The city of Skiathos is the capital of the homonymous island, the Municipality of Skiathos, and the Regional Unity of Sporades. It is located in the southeastern part of the island and has a population of 4,883 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census. All public services of the island are housed in the city of Skiathos.
